Cancellation Policy Overview
Service | Free cancellation
Accommodation | 5 days before arrival
Horse riding tours | 48 hours before tour starts
Cruise excursions | 48 hours before tour starts
Kids riding courses | 2 days before the lesson
No-shows are not eligible for refund.
All cancellations must be submitted by email.

General Booking Terms
A booking becomes binding once confirmation or payment is received.
Finnsstaðir reserves the right to refuse service if a guest:
- May endanger themselves
- May endanger other guests, staff, or animals
- Disrupts operations
- Is under alcohol or drug influence
Guests participate voluntarily and at their own risk.
Travel insurance is strongly recommended.
Accommodation Terms
Minimum stay requirements may apply.
Only registered guests may stay overnight.
Guests are responsible for damages caused during their stay.
House rules include:
- No smoking indoors
- No parties without permission
- Quiet hours must be respected
- Property must be treated respectfully
Accommodation cancellation
- Free cancellation until 5 days before arrival
- Later cancellation: 75% fee
- No-show: not eligible for refund
Weather travel exception
If guests cannot reach the property due to official road closures:
We offer:
- Full refund
- Alternative dates
This applies only when access roads are officially closed.
Horse Riding Tours
Cancellation
- Free cancellation 48 hours before departure
- Later cancellations: 75% fee
- No-shows not eligible for refund
Operational cancellations
Tours may be cancelled for safety reasons due to:
- Weather
- Safety concerns
- Horse welfare
- Operational reasons
Guests will receive:
- Alternative time
- Full refund
Rider Requirements
Guests must provide accurate information regarding:
- Riding experience
- Weight
- Age
- Medical conditions
False or misleading information may result in refusal of participation without refund.
Guide Authority
All guests must follow guide instructions.
Failure to follow safety instructions may result in removal.
Participation will not be eligible for refund if removal is necessary for safety reasons.
Failure to follow instructions may also limit liability claims.
Guest Conduct
Guests must behave respectfully toward:
- Staff
- Other guests
- Animals
- Property
Unsafe or disrespectful behavior may result in removal without refund.
We always try to be flexible when possible, but safety decisions remain final.
Equipment & Personal Belongings
Personal belongings remain guest responsibility.
Finnsstaðir is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items.
Force Majeure
Finnsstaðir is not responsible for disruptions caused by:
- Severe weather
- Road closures
- Natural hazards
- Government restrictions
- Events outside our control
If roads are officially closed:
We offer:
- Full refund
- Alternative dates
Liability Limitation
Finnsstaðir is not liable for:
- Injuries resulting from failure to follow instructions
- Outdoor activity risks
- Natural hazards
- Third-party actions
- Lost property
Guests accept risks connected to outdoor and horse activities.
Guests are responsible for damages caused by negligence.
Complaints
Complaints must be submitted within 7 days.
We aim to resolve complaints fairly and professionally.
Photography
Photos may be taken during activities for marketing purposes.
Guests who do not wish to appear in photos should inform staff before the activity.
Privacy Policy
Personal data is used only for:
- Bookings
- Communication
- Legal obligations
We do not sell personal data.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by Icelandic law.
Any disputes fall under Icelandic jurisdiction.
